The 12-15 April, ESS takes part in the annual conference Europaforum, an annual conference for discussion of current European Affairs. Europaforum is arranged every spring in Hässleholm, and attracts a large number of politicians, social scientists, journalists, European Affairs policy-makers, as well as many local residents and high school students. This year, the ESS seminar was entitled "Can ESS contribute to macro-regional building?", and a report, written by Pontus Tallberg from Region Skåne and the political scientist Lisbeth Lindeborg was published. In the seminar, the former ESS Chief Negotiator Allan Larsson took part, and told the audience about the cross-border scientific corridor that will be built up around ESS, MAXIV, and the science facilities XFEL and PETRA III in Hamburg. Ann-Kerstin Myléus from the European Commisison's DG for Regional Policy, informed about the new EU Baltic Sea Strategy, including the Baltic Science Link, a so-called flagship project based on i.e the ESS.
