Today the second call for proposals in the ESS Science Symposia series was announced. Deadline for application is 31 January 2012.

So far nine symposia have been funded by ESS.

The workshops should discuss a specific community’s requirements for neutron scattering instrumentation as well as supporting facilities, laboratories and sample environments. It is encouraged that Symposia focus around scientific themes or areas as opposed to types of instrumentation or particular techniques.

The ESS Science Symposia present an important opportunity to have a direct say into the planning and construction of ESS and its science. The outcome of these workshops in the form of a report will be presented directly to the Science Advisory Council of ESS. and will have influence over the research landscape at ESS.
