This is difficult to predict, but it is not impossible. ESS will put Europe on the world map of research in the same way as CERN, the world-leading particle physics laboratory in Geneva. The research that lead to the attainment of both Nobel Prizes in physics and chemistry in 2007 is the research that will be able to be conducted at ESS in the future.
